Field Service Engineer

*Remote job - with preference for location in Chicago or Northern Indiana, or East Coast (Baltimore or Philadelphia)

In the Industrial X-Ray Systems division, we develop and produce radioscopic and CT inspection systems for a wide range of industrial applications in the electronics, aerospace or automotive industries.

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) Provides technical service and support to customers in the field and internally within the company. Working face to face with the customer, the FSE plays a critical role in providing customer satisfaction and generating additional sales opportunities.

 

What will you do?

  • Installation and repair of X-Ray inspection systems and upgrades at the customers’ location and company Lab facility.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on X-Ray systems.
  • Provides system training to customers on maintenance, operation, and programming as required.
  • Completes all job-related paperwork and submits to the office each week. This includes expense reports and service reports which detail problems encountered, solutions taken, and parts used.
  • Makes effective use of downtime during periods in the office. This may include customer phone support, sales support, service/PM contract follow-up, internal project support, training, identifying new software versions when available.
  • Follows all appropriate safety procedures and actively promotes a safe work environment.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Understanding of fundamental electronic principals.
  • Understanding of basic 3-phase and single-phase power systems and components.
  • Knowledge of PLC logic and motion control systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high paced and stressful environment.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers on technical and professional matters.
  • Familiarity with common lab testing equipment such as multimeter, oscilloscope, and soldering tools.
  • Strong PC and networking skills (Windows environment).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work alone with little or no technical support or supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities per company directive and customer need.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% to visit customer locations. Some out-of-country travel required (passport required).

 

What you bring:

  • 2-year technical degree (electronics) or certification, or other equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of working experience troubleshooting electronic/mechanical equipment.

Other preferred education, experience, and skills

  • Experience with PLC repair, troubleshooting and programming.
  • Previous experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Volume Graphics or CERA CT software experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in computer software backup, installation, and repair.
