Senior HR Generalist

Overview:
The HR Generalist will serve as a key partner in delivering comprehensive HR support across Comet Technologies’ North America operations. This role is instrumental in executing people strategies and managing the full employee lifecycle—from onboarding through offboarding—while leading HR projects that enhance and standardize HR practices organization-wide.

 

Location:
This position requires full-time onsite presence, 5 days per week, at our San Jose, CA office.


What you will do:

  • Provide expert HR guidance and support to employees and managers throughout the North America region, including San Jose (CA), Shelton (CT), Montreal (Quebec), and remote employees.
  • Lead a wide range of HR functions, projects, and change-management initiatives related to onboarding/offboarding, employee record management, HRIS administration, performance evaluations, merit increases, promotions, employee relations, policy compliance, coaching, succession planning, retention, immigration, employee engagement & communications, compensation, benefits, open enrollment, and learning and development initiatives.
  • Analyze HR data and generate reports on key metrics such as payroll, headcount, turnover, talent acquisition, and other business-critical indicators.
  • Stay current on HR trends, best practices, regulatory updates, and emerging technologies to ensure compliance and innovation.
  • Serve as the primary contact for job descriptions, benchmarking, job evaluations, and compensation inquiries.

What you bring:

 

Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of progressive experience in human resource management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess situations, interpret data, and recommend effective solutions, with proficiency in HRIS systems (administration and/or implementation), Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Up-to-date and in-depth knowledge of US federal and state employment laws (ADA, Workers’ Compensation, FLSA, FMLA, etc.) applicable across North America.
  • Savvy with data and technical experience in HR systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated success managing HR projects and transformation initiatives of varying scope to successful completion.
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is preferable.
  • Up-to-date and in-depth knowledge of Quebec employment law is preferable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% within the US and Canada, with occasional international travel.

  • Appropriate communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships at all organizational levels including senior leadership stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, while employing proactive, results-driven problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

 

The target salary range for this job is approximately $130,000 to $140,000 annually.
