To complement our team, we are looking for a customer- and team-oriented individual for our Plasma Control Technologies division at our San Jose, CA facility as a 

 

NPI Manufacturing Engineer

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

 

What will you do?

  • Monitor, verify and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials) in the SAP system.
  • Improve NPI product transition in terms of time and efficiency by delivering each task on the NPI check list i.e. BOM challenges/Proto build/OMS/PFMEA/etc.
  • Create assembly and test instructions (OMS) to support NPI and train production personnel.
  • Design and development of any production tools/fixtures and poke yoke tools.
  • Assists in capacity and resource planning for the production lines.
  • Participate in line setup and cycle time reduction activities through Kaizen projects.
  • Actively participate in the transfer of products between COMET’s Production facilities in the US, Switzerland, and China.
  • Effectively utilize lean manufacturing tools for continuously improve the flow of material and information in the factory including factory layouts, visual management, 5S, JIT, Kanban.
  • Assist in conducting training as and when the need arises and engaging all employees in the site to drive Kaizen.
  • Conduct failure analysis (RCCA), create failure reports, and implement solutions to the root cause.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.  Travel required 10-20%.

 

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical Engineering or Science as well as experience in Mechanical Design.
  • Ability to communicate with others in an effective and concise manner.
  • Demonstrates hands-on experience and capability to drive Lean- Six Sigma in factory environment in electronics manufacturing.
  • Must have leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Is open to flexible hours requiring occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and possess a “can-do” with quality first attitude and take “ownership” over LEAN initiatives.
  • Knowledge of SPC, JMP, and or Minitab is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Project management tools such JIRA are desirable
    5+ years of related experience in the manufacturing industry of which 3+ years as NPI role.
  • 3 + years of Semiconductor equipment manufacturing is a must.
  • Previous experience with ISO quality system and “Copy Exactly” principles.
  • Ability to successfully communicate and transfer design work from the project stage to the production stage.
  • Proficient in 3D mechanical modeling with SolidWorks.
  • Previous experience in SAP system highly desired.

The target salary range for this job is approximately $135,000 to $140,000 annually, based on experience and depth of knowledge.
