Global Supplier Quality Engineer

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

What you will do:

• Responsible for supplier assessment, qualification, selection, and development from a supplier quality perspective for new suppliers. Responsible for ensuring suppliers have adequate measures in place to share best practices and ensure defect prevention, reduction, adequate waste handling and meet Comet PCT quality standards to maximize customer satisfaction for new suppliers.
• Support supply chain in new supplier selection and approval process. First Article Qualification activities for new parts and early changes. Develop and communicate Comet PCT expectations for quality performance during product development and NPI, continuous improvement, quality systems, process controls and capabilities to new suppliers.
• Participate in technical meeting with supplier, R&D and NPI (DFM review), 2D part drawing, identify critical dimension, Form, Fit and functional related dimension during enabling phase.
• Technical visits and audits at new supplier site for supplier evaluation during product/project development. Support during mass production phase as needed. Ensure supplier meets FAI minimum and other Comet PCT business related requirements.
• Familiar with the process and able to create an incoming inspection plan of new components in close interaction with the site quality management (QM). Works with R&D and NPI and site QM teams to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements.

What you bring:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in supplier quality management, including quality systems, standards, KPIs, tools for supplier development. At least a bachelor’s degree, Professional Degree, Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Quality Management System, ISO9001, TS16949, ISO14001. Required skill(s): Supplier quality audit (QMS/VDA6.3), APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC customer or internal complaints on part quality issues, 8D Methodology.
• Knowledge of MSA, SPC, FMEA, Control Plan, and GD & T. Experience specific to Aluminum (AL) & Plastic material Machining plus manual/robotic welding of AL & Plastic parts will be an added advantage.
• Preferably Senior Executives specializing in Engineering - Mechanical/Automotive or equivalent.Preferable candidate must be willing to travel to supplier when required.
• Able to use quality tools and methods to deeply analyze the root causes of problems, develop and implement improvement measures to prevent or recurrence of technical quality problems.
