Materials & Vacuum Physics Expert 80-100%

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

 

What you will do:

  • Drive material selection, development, and validation for vacuum capacitor components to ensure high performance, reliability, and long service life under high-voltage RF vacuum conditions
  • Conduct technological studies and experimental projects aligned with the product roadmap, using structured scientific and data-driven methodologies
  • Analyze and mitigate vacuum breakdown phenomena such as field emission, arcing, contamination, and outgassing effects in vacuum systems
  • Develop and optimize advanced joining and surface engineering solutions, including ceramic-to-metal brazing, diffusion bonding, coatings, and surface treatments
  • Plan, execute, and interpret material characterization, reliability, and failure analysis tests using techniques such as SEM, EDX, CT, and leak testing

 

What you bring:

  • MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or related field and strong expertise in materials science, vacuum technology, and high-voltage/RF systems, with deep understanding of material behavior under extreme operating conditions
  • Hands-on experience with material characterization, surface analysis, failure investigation, and reliability assessment methodologies
  • A structured, analytical, and detail-oriented approach to experimentation, root-cause analysis, and engineering problem solving
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, clear communication, good English skills while German is a big plus
  • Proven capability to lead technical projects, make data-driven engineering decisions, and contribute to continuous technology and process improvement
